Brandon Oaks Life Plan Community Names Ben Burks, NHA as New Executive Director

Roanoke, VA (September 25, 2017) — Brandon Oaks is proud to announce Ben Burks, NHA, as the new Executive Director, effective September 25, 2017. Burks previously served as the Executive Director of The Glebe in Daleville, Virginia. As a high-performing executive in the senior living field, Burks brings 14 years of experience in the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) industry.

Mr. Martin has over 25 years of corporate real estate and property management experience in various capacities for regional developers and global third-party management companies. His experience as Director of Property Management in the Atlanta area included managing and overseeing large portfolios encompassing over 2.5 million square feet of Class A office, medical office, retail and industrial real estate.

One of his noteworthy achievements includes leading the property management team in the commissioning and occupancy of the Emory Crawford Long Hospital Medical Office Building in midtown Atlanta. The 14-story, 357,782-square-foot facility tops the five-story Emory Crawford Long Hospital.

Bob brings a wealth of industry knowledge to Poe & Cronk. Vistar Eye Center Announces Addition of New Ophthalmologist and Glaucoma Specialist

Tad SchoedelRoanoke, VA – September 20, 2017.  Vistar Eye Center is pleased to welcome Tad D. Schoedel, M.D., a new ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, to its experienced network of eye doctors.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Schoedel join our team,” said Vistar’s Dr. Frank Cotter, fellow ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist at Vistar Eye Center.  “He’s a compassionate ophthalmologist and a superb surgeon who will help us to continue providing the best care for our patients.”

Schoedel earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Denver, where he received the Gottesfeld Memorial Award and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.  In addition to his residency at the St. Louis Eye Institute, Schoedel served as a Glaucoma Fellow at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining Vistar, he completed a one-year term at Carilion Clinic.

Advanced-Level Family Nurse Practitioner Joins Local Surgical Clinic

Blick has joined Jefferson Surgical Clinic as an advanced-level, certified family nurse practitioner.  She willbe joining Dr. Gregory Zachmann in providing patient care at Jefferson Surgical’s otolaryngology department, also known as the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department.

“I am excited and honored to join Dr. Zachmann and the Jefferson Surgical team,” said Blick. “Their commitment to excellence and innovation in patient care made my decision to become part of the JSC team an easy one.”

Blick relocated to Roanoke from Macon, Georgia where she spent 14 years as a nurse practitioner in the fields of primary care, oncology, respiratory and sleep medicine, and pain management.

LRV Class of 2018 Breaks the Ice at Retreat

Retreat for the Leadership Roanoke Valley Class of 2018 was held September 14 – 15 at Mountain Lake Lodge. With a tree tops adventure ropes course, Jinglepalooza and several team building activities, Retreat is a wonderful opportunity for participants to break out of their comfort zones.

Participants will meet again on October 18 for their first LRV program led by their advisors.
