Chesapeake, Va. – Nonprofits serving youth in the areas of technology, education, mentoring and literacy are encouraged to mark their calendars for November 13, 2017. This is the date the Cox Charities grant cycle will open in Cox Communications communities in Virginia.
Cox Charities, the philanthropic arm of Cox Communications, supports nonprofit organizations focused on providing quality educational programs to youth throughout Virginia. Now in its eighth year, the program supports the Hampton Roads, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, and Roanoke service areas.
“Since 2009, Cox Charities has awarded nearly $1 million in grants to deserving nonprofit organizations in Virginia,” said JD Myers, II, senior vice president and region manager for Cox Communications Virginia. “Our goal is to support local organizations focused on youth education. By doing so, we strengthen our communities and invest in our future generations to ensure they reach their highest potential.”
To be considered for funding, nonprofit groups must support youth in Cox’s Hampton Roads, Roanoke, Fairfax County or Fredericksburg service areas. Education programs that further the academic achievement and development of young people through science and technology, mentoring, literacy and other areas promoting youth education are eligible. Grants are awarded in $5,000 and $10,000 increments.
Grants are funded by dollars raised by the generosity of Cox employees through an annual Cox Charities employee giving campaign and through special events such as the Cox Charities Benefit Concert series, presented by ESPN.
