ROANOKE, Va. (Oct. 2, 2017) — Jefferson College of Health Sciences is hosting the 6th Annual “Jefferson College 5K Riverside Run & Wellness Walk” on Saturday, November 11, 2017, presented by Medical Facilities of America, an exclusive provider of LifeWorks Rehab. This year’s run benefits the Jefferson College of Health Sciences Education Foundation Extra Mile Fund. This fund is designed to assist students with the costs of co-curricular activities to build upon their experiences in the classroom and clinical settings.

The 5K run portion of the event begins at 9 a.m. and the wellness walk begins at 9:05 a.m. Online registration, as well as information about registration fees, is available now at https://www.jchs5k.com.

Dogs are welcome to participate for an additional nominal fee and will receive a race bandana. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt for participating.

The event course begins near the Jefferson College campus at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital at the intersection of Williamson Road and Elm Street in downtown Roanoke. Participants will then proceed down Williamson Road to Jefferson Street and then Walnut Avenue, where the course will detour onto the Roanoke Valley Greenway. On the Greenway, runners/walkers will come to a turnaround point along Wiley Road where they will retrace their path back to the starting point.

Participants in the event will have the opportunity to confirm their registration and pick up race packets with more information on Friday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 12, from 7 to 8 a.m. in the third floor lobby area of Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital.
