This new warehouse location will act as the hub of the program’s efforts to make a difference in the lives of Roanoke area community members. TAP celebrated the new warehouse opening during a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the support of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce on May 12. The event was attended by members of the TAP board of directors, TAP President and CEO Annette Lewis, and other local dignitaries.

TAP Books operates using a unique donation system that creates several positive impacts. Generous community members donate their books, new and old, to the program. Then, TAP Books employees sort the donations, making them available for free to TAP clients, and for sale on online platforms. The revenue from the book sales then goes toward supporting other programs at TAP.

The program also creates jobs in the community, and hires TAP program participants whenever possible. Employees are able to gain valuable work experience while learning and strengthening new skills, often serving as a bridge to other employment opportunities.

None of this would be possible without book donations. The program relies on consistent, generous donations from the community to continue to support TAP’s mission.
