Roanoke, VA – September 20, 2017. Vistar Eye Center is pleased to welcome Tad D. Schoedel, M.D., a new ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, to its experienced network of eye doctors.
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Schoedel join our team,” said Vistar’s Dr. Frank Cotter, fellow ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist at Vistar Eye Center. “He’s a compassionate ophthalmologist and a superb surgeon who will help us to continue providing the best care for our patients.”
Schoedel earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Denver, where he received the Gottesfeld Memorial Award and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In addition to his residency at the St. Louis Eye Institute, Schoedel served as a Glaucoma Fellow at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining Vistar, he completed a one-year term at Carilion Clinic.
“I knew joining the excellent team of physicians at Vistar was the right choice because of their dedication to providing exemplary medical care using the latest advancements, and their passion for serving the community at large,” said Schoedel.
Glaucoma is a disorder where internal fluids of the eye do not drain properly. Pressure in the eye builds up and causes permanent damage to the optic nerve fibers over time. Dr. Schoedel will see patients at the 707 S. Jefferson St. office in Roanoke, Martinsville, and Wytheville locations.
Vistar Eye Center’s large network of specialists and offices grew last month with the opening of its newest specialty location in Roanoke, at 2154 McVitty Rd. The Oak Grove building houses a retina center, a refractive surgery suite, and an oculofacial plastic surgery center.
